Lost in the Ashes
Description
What happened? What didn’t happen.
We were heading toward the old ruins near the Southern Ridge when we spotted smoke - though it was another scavenger camp. Then the arrows came. Dozens of them. Black-fletched and silent.
The courier - Barlen - he was good. But not fast. We didn’t stand a chance. They overwhelmed us, tore through the escort, and dragged the transcripts you’re looking for and everything else we had off.
I saw the marks they left behind… bone symbols. Spears carved from slate. These weren’t Bandits. They were Orcs.
But… not the North Tusks. A tribe I’ve never seen before. I saw their camp in the southwest. Weaker. Scraping by like scavengers and outcasts.
I made it out. Barely. But I failed the mission. That’s on me. If you want those transcripts back, you’ll have to find the orc’s camp and take them from their dead hands.
Hand-in NPC dialog:
Jym will pay for abandoning his mission, but at least you’ve recovered the transcripts.
They’re damaged, but intact enough to be of use. See the markings here? They match the ones on your necklace. Not just similar. Identical to ones found in the Mad Run.
This changes things.
