There’s a note before this next entry. A personal one, I think. It reads: “I feel it creeping beneath my skin now. The ash does not whisper. It remembers. And now it remembers me. I do not think I can leave this place unchanged.
It’s strange the passage that follows isn’t written like the others. There’s no riddle this time. Just a sketch.
[He turns the book towards you, revealing a diagram: four totem-like structures arranged in a loose square.]
Between them are sigils: a sword, a flame, a mask, and a book. These look like symbols for Fighter. Magic-User. Scout. Priest. But why these, and why now?
The author didn’t just observe the Ashbreathers. He immersed himself in them fully. And if he’s right, this ritual isn’t just a test. It’s a thereshold.
I’m guessing you’ll need to find four of these runes, each bearing one of those symbols. Place them before the totems. If they still stand…
Hand-in Dialog (beware: possible spoilers)
[He stares at you for a moment, silent.]
“Empty?”
[He begins pacing. His tone is low but charged.]
No one else knew what was in that sketch. Not the Ministry. Not the mercs. Not even Gwenolyn. Unless someone saw you heading down. Or…
[He sets the journal a side with more force then necessary.]
Give me a moment. I need to clear my head.
[You watch Eldrin just a bit longer. The air feels thicker around him. The way he stands is rigid. Like he’s holding something back. And for just a second, the light from the ember gem flickers across his skin like smoke.]
