Smoldering Trenches Dungeon
This desperate place still relfects a major historical event from the Deicide War when the Ravaging Lord charged Ossari the Betrayer and his foes to march against Kingsreach and when Ossari unleashed the nightmares upon the human city of Havensong and contributed to its destruction.
“Kingsreach did not fare as well. The island has only the Roans as a natural defense, and while both the Humans and Elves made their hold around and on it respectively, there was little choice but to meet Ossari’s vast forces on the field of battle. But despite their valor, beautiful Havensong became the last bulwark of defense, with the Silent Sanctum hidden in the Roans behind.” - The Keeper
“Jon… when you wrote about seeing black flames on the horizon, my blood chilled. We hear whispers down here. The other wives speak of Ossari, of what he did to Lost Sidryth. They say he burns everthing, even memory itself.” From a singed Letter
“Guards, nobles, common folk, all silent. They replay their last moments endlessly. But I remember everything. The sound of the children singing morning songs. The smell of bread from the markets. Then the screaming. The black flames.” Xanthis Ociloth, Fallen of Havensong
“In perhaps the most mournful episode of the entire war, Havensong fell along with the Human King Amensol, and the betrayer Ossari demanded the entire city be wiped from the plain and carried off. Halting his army from any pursuit into the Roans, Ossari personally verified that every last timber, stone and hinge was removed from the scorched landscape and dropped off cliffs, into the sea miles away. This took three days, and it was not until the effort was finished did he march on the Sanctum.” The Keeper, the Age of Seclusion
“Seven years into the Deicide War, the Ravaging Lord of the Revenant permitted one of the Human’s former gods, Ossari, rain down upon Havensong every nightmare of war his armies possessed. The undermanned city endured a three week siege, and King Amensol was cast among the corpses of his soldiers, slain by Ossari the Betrayer himself. The High Mortal’s fury culminated in having every sundered shred of the ruined city carried to the cliffs of Ru’lun and thrown into the churning seas below. The young heir Avendyr spent his first night as king shepherding survivors back to the Silent Sanctum in the belly of the Roans, not stopping for the dawn or to grieve.” Historical records about the Humans
